27 September 2024
Both the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day take place on September 30th.
Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We observe this day to reflect on the harm done to generations of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people across Canada.
The day honors the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities who suffered losses unimaginable to others in society. As childcare Educators we play a role in helping to manifest the healing journey for those families and recognize the ongoing impacts of residential schools as a component of the reconciliation process.
